Travel Policies
In a recent survey it was found that 44% of people buying travel insurance think that it is more expensive to buy through travel agents. 41% who thought it was expensive still brought insurance from travel agents as it was more convenient. Only around 17% of holidaymakers buy travel insurance from their home or motor insurance provider.
The survey also found that approximately 15% of those travelling abroad have no insurance. This could well rise to 29% when domestic holidays are included and for travellers under the age of 35 this could rise to 35%.
With effect from January 2009 travel agents will be only be allowed to provide insurance if they are registered with the FSA or sell through a FSA registered company. This may well lead to many agents giving up selling insurance rather than register with the FSA.
