There are some restrictions – each individual trip will normally have to be for less than 31 days, for example – but the plans still offer great value. Fans say they are ideal for people who use budget airlines for last minute trips to the continent and might otherwise forget to cover them. What’s even better are the premiums. Craig Staniland of Swiftcover.com says a family of four who take just two holidays a year could save £153 by buying an annual plan rather than individual policies. All the major providers offer annual plans. ‘For many people buying single trip travel insurance is simply a waste of money,’ says Craig. So if you’re shopping around for the right policy put an annual plan on your list.
